Day one-ready EMR integration: Trading a black box vendor for a hands-on head start

Cardiac monitoring data is only useful if it reaches the right people at the right time, especially clinicians in the EMR. Most early-stage health tech companies treat integration as something to solve after a deal closes. That path is slow and reactive, and it stalls implementation exactly when speed matters most.

The challenge

Wearlinq is elevating the standard of cardiac monitoring through several technological and clinical innovations, like their eWave™ multimodal device. The lightest device of its kind², and available for use with a patient’s personal phone³, eWave is unique in that it captures six-leads of ECG data wirelessly, continuously transmitting data and delivering timely, high-quality reports.²

But speed and accuracy only matter if data reaches a clinician in time to act on it. With the EMR living at the center of the point of care, selling into health systems means this same question comes up in every conversation: “tell me about how you’ll integrate with our EMR.”

For an early-stage company like Wearlinq, that question carries real weight. Health systems expect integration to work seamlessly from day one, but building that capability usually means hiring specialized talent, navigating vendor dependencies, or both, long before there’s revenue to support it. Get it wrong, or move too slowly, and damage the customer relationship before the product ever gets a chance to prove its value.

For cardiac monitoring data to flow into an EMR without manual re-entry or clinicians toggling between systems, it also has to be shaped precisely to match what each receiving system expects. This work typically requires fluency in a variety of healthcare data standards, relying on expertise that takes time to build in-house.

That left Wearlinq with a decision to make: spend months building fluency and integration capabilities in-house, or lean on a partner who already had it.

The solution

Wearlinq’s answer wasn’t to build a bigger team. Instead it looked like giving Andrew Garrett, their EMR Implementation Manager, hands-on control so EMR integration was ready to start the moment a customer signed.

Working with Redox as their interoperability partner, Andrew worked through Redox’s reference documentation, tested against provided sample data, and iterated by hand on config modifiers — the piece of work that shapes cardiac monitoring data to match exactly what each receiving EMR expects.

That early investment mattered. When working with a previous integration vendor, Andrew had no hands-on control at all; every config change required a formal request and an indefinite wait. WIth Redox, Andrew built a foundation of platform knowledge before any deadline pressure hit. The Onboarding process reinforced that foundation further: working closely with the Redox team, Andrew left with a completed integration scope, informed by thousands of previous integrations, that he could put to work right away.

Even better, when the Config Modifier AI Assistant was released in the customer dashboard in June 2026 as part of a major Redox AI launch, Andrew was mid-installation and already fluent in what config modifiers needed to do. The new AI tooling met him exactly where he was, sharpening the syntax and translation work he was already deep in, rather than asking him to start over with a new tool.

When one modifier didn’t behave as expected, Andrew triaged it himself, stepping through multiple iterations in under 10 minutes. Because he already understood the flow of data, he traced the issue to how data was processed downstream rather than the modifier itself, and resolved it without filing a single ticket.

Since Wearlinq’s first installation began, Andrew has used the Config Modifier AI Assistant more heavily than almost any other Redox customer, building and testing config modifiers well ahead of the moment they’ll actually be needed. Based on how quickly Andrew has been able to build, test, and ship config modifiers, he expects to go live in a fraction of the time compared to working with his previous vendor.

What’s next for Wearlinq

Andrew isn’t just using AI tools to get through the current installation faster, he’s building ahead. Knowing which EMR systems his next customers are likely to run, he’s designing config modifiers and translations proactively. Many of those EMRs are also already connected to the Redox Connection Network; Andrew’s work focuses on configuring for Wearlinq’s data, instead of building from the ground up.

Now when Wearlinq closes a deal, much of the implementation work is already done. With tens to potentially hundreds of customers expected to share the same global interface, every config modifier Andrew gets right now multiplies across future rollouts.
